DAVID SOLOMON SOLOVEY (Age 86)
On Thursday, February 8, 2018 of Chevy Chase, MD, David passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Loving son of the late Adelaine and Sam Solovey. Beloved husband of Traci Solovey for nearly 54 years; devoted father of Jon (Jennifer) Solovey, Stacey (Neil Bromberg) Solovey and Sam (Lori) Solovey. Also survived by his five beautiful grandchildren, Jack Barnet, Jenna Rose, Adam David, Noah Michael and David Evan. Born in Louisville, KY on August 6, 1931, his family moved to Miami, Florida when he was five. He attended Miami Beach High School and was awarded a full scholarship to University of Miami for undergraduate and law school. David joined the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Bureau of Hearings and Appeals in Washington, DC where he remained for 25 years. Upon his retirement from the government, he managed his real estate holdings and in later years volunteered his time singing at local nursing homes. David's true passions in life were his family whom he loved unconditionally, singing ballads from the Big Band era and recording several volumes of his favorite songs, and painting abstract art, which he accomplished for more than a half century. His artwork appeared and sold in several local galleries and annual shows. Services will be held 12 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb Street, NW, Washington, DC 20016. So so sad to learn of your loss. David was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather as well as an active member of his Synagogue and of the greater community. He wii be sorely missed by all those he touched with his kindness, his music and his love.
