Passed away peacefully Monday, October 29, 2012 at his home in Frederick, MD. He was the beloved son of the late Francis and Florence FitzGerald. He is survived by his loving wife Susan E. FitzGerald for 20 years. He was a loving father of Bradley (Karen) FitzGerald, Donald (Laurie) FitzGerald, Denise Edwards, Dennis (Krista) FitzGerald, Karen (Lane) Warren, Timothy (Louise) FitzGerald, James (Heather) Ritter, Kristen (Zachary) VanVranken and Marianne Ritter; the admired grandfather of 19 and great-grandfather of two. Donnie was the beloved brother of Anne (Joseph) Frick and brother-in-law of Jean and Julie FitzGerald. He was predeceased by two brothers James and Francis FitzGerald and children, Raymond and Richard FitzGerald and Scott Ritter. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Donald was dedicated to his faith, family, country and community. He served his country during the Korean War and was an active member of the BCC Rescue Squad and Alumni for 62 years. Family and friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE FUNERAL HOME, 7557 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD 20814 on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7500 Pearl Street, Bethesda, MD 20814 on Friday, November 9 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the BCC Rescue Squad Alumni, 5020 Battery Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814 and Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Avenue, Frederick, MD 21702.
