On Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in Washington, D.C., beloved wife of Thomas L. Jackson for 59 years. The union produced 5 children, Michael (Deborah), Kevin (Michelle), Glen (Janice), Toni and Tina. She was born October 24, 1925, in Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and William Johnson, her nine siblings, and her son Glen. Dorothy was a graduate of the D.C. Public Schools and she attended Miner's Teacher's College. She began her career at Freedman's Hospital and then was employed by the Veteran's Administration for the remainder of her career. She retired from the VA in 1981, as a Payroll Supervisor; and spent the last 33 years traveling, going to New York to see Broadway plays, playing bridge and pinochle, and enjoying her family.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will take place at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 26 Grant Circle, N.W.., on April 29, with the visitation at 9 a.m., funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
