McCREADY ERNEST ROBERT McCREADY, JR. (Age 56) Robert (Bob) McCready, 56, of Alexandria, Virginia, left this earth and joined his Lord in heaven on December 1, 2012. He was born on November 21, 1956, in Savannah, Georgia. Robert is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Sheila Clarke McCready of Alexandria, VA; mother, Elizabeth Hughes McCready, of Potomac Falls, VA; sister, Karen McCready of Sterling, VA; and brother, David (Marsha) McCready of Great Falls, VA. He is also survived by numerous loving in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as his long-time caretaker, Sindy Rodriguez and her son, Anthony. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Lt. Col. (ret.) Ernest Robert (Mac) McCready. As the son of an Air Force officer, Robert grew up primarily in Georgia, Florida and Maryland. He graduated from Friendly High School in Fort Washington, Maryland, and later attended Saint Mary's College in Maryland and Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Robert graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a degree in education. After teaching two years, he spent his career as a marketing and sales executive, retiring in 1993 due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis and Crohn's Disease. Until his activities were curtailed by chronic illness, Robert was an active skier, surfer, scuba diver, and drummer. He was a church volunteer for many years, focusing on work with youth and discipleship ministries. This special Christian man, who never met a stranger, left a mark on the hearts of all those who knew him. Friends and family will be received at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22032. The funeral will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Parkwood Baptist Church, 8726 Braddock Road, Annandale, VA 22003. Interment will be at the Old Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County, MS, on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Robert's name to Johns Hopkins Neurology, Project Restore, c/o The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, One Charles Center, 100 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, attention Chris Glick, or to Parkwood Baptist Church.
