To Helen and Claudia and family,
I cannot believe Gene has been gone for ten years. I am now 78 and did not realize he died at 77.
We met in Athens at the Journalism School dinner. You were there, too, Helen. He would be so proud of the Dawgs right now! National College Champions.
I may visit his grave this year. I would have attended his services if I had known he had passed away.

Gene will be missed by all. A man of many talents, ideas and opinions. There was never a dull moment in his company. His love for Barbara was a special thing, her loss an overwhelming one and now he can rejoin her.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Mr. Methvin wrote an important criminal justice piece in the Wall St. Journal in 2006 and countless others previously. Though I never met him, he seemed like one of the 'good guys' from the Old School media. I wish he had written his life story.

I was so very sorry to hear about your dad. He was a very special person. I always will remember his outgoing personality, his spirit , and great intelligence. May his memory be with you always.

Helen and Claudia and family, My heart goes out to you in this time of grief. I remember your father from the 70s when Betsy, Marianne and I kept our horses at your barn. You two girls were little then. I remember so clearly how both your parents adored you. Your mom was always outside with you in the garden or giving you pony rides on Spaghetti, the shaggy Shetland. Your father would sometimes get upset with us when we caused your well to run dry by filling up the horse troughs with water and bathing the horses. Of course, he had every right to be upset, but we were a little intimidated by Mr. Methvin at the time. Those were wonderful times. I know that you have so many memories of your dad in your heart. Treasure those memories and he will always be with you. My prayer for your family is to be comforted and have the peace of Jesus Christ. I offer this prayer with deepest sympathy for your loss.
