A first-generation American of Italian descent, Mrs. Daly was born Frances Helen Chickachop to Maria Viola and Camillo Chickachop (Ciccocioppi) on April 22, 1918, in Cedar Brook, NJ. She graduated from Hammonton High School and attended Strayer's Business College, in Philadelphia. Her husband of 68 years, George W. Daly, Capt. USN (Ret.), predeceased her in 2010. As a Navy family, they resided in Norfolk, Virginia; Annapolis, Maryland; Bayside, Queens; and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, before settling in Silver Spring, Maryland, where they finished raising their six children. They retired to Port St. Lucie, Florida, before moving to Middletown, Delaware, in 1999. She had 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Mary Landels Daly. A gentle mentor to countless friends and relatives, Mrs. Daly will be gratefully remembered for her guidance and support of their educational, professional and personal pursuits. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to the very end of her life and will be profoundly missed. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, November 23 at St. Joseph's Church, 371 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE. with a funeral mass following immediately afterwards.
