Gloria Juanita Valdes Twomey, aged 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2012 at her home in Silver Spring, Maryland. Gloria was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 1, 1920. She moved Washington DC in 1939 to work in the congressional office of Judge Paul J. Kilday (D). Gloria met her beloved husband, the late Richard Nagel Twomey in 1949 and they were married the same year. She spent many years volunteering in her children's school and later had another career as librarian in the Montgomery County MD Public School system. Gloria and Richard enjoyed several years of their retirement in Shady Side, MD. She was well traveled and well read and never forgot a birthday.
Gloria is survived by her four children; Tim Twomey of Wheaton MD, Megan Twomey of Ocean Isle Beach NC, Patrick Twomey of Gaithersburg MD and Michael Twomey of Mexico City, Mexico; grand children Christopher Twomey of Philadelphia PA, Bryan and Gregory Twomey of Wheaton MD, Devon Patrice Harty of Los Angeles CA, Nahui Marie Twomey Jiménez and TristÁn MatC-as Twomey Gonzalez of Mexico City, Mexico; great grandchild Brayden Twomey of Philadelphia PA. She is also survived by many other caring family members and friends. Gloria will forever be lovingly remembered by all for her love and support and her most wonderful sense of humor.
