HERBERT DeGRANGE WOLFF, III
Of Alexandria, Virginia, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife, son and daughter on November 5, 2013.
He was born on September 5, 1939, the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Herbert DeGrange Wolff, Jr. of Alexandria, VA. Herb graduated from Christ Church School in Saluda, Virginia in 1958 and received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Hampton Sydney College in 1962.
Herb worked for the Federal Government, first at the Department of the Navy and then spent his career as a Grants and Contracts Officer for the National Science Foundation, until retiring in 1999. After he retired, he spent his time volunteering and teaching at the Bryant Adult Education/ESOL Program in Alexandria, Virginia.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dottie , daughther, Kim Mailloux and son, Herbert D. Wolff IV (Scooter); two granddaughters, Madeline and Megan Mailloux (all of Alexandria, Virginia) and many devoted friends.
On Sunday, November 10, 2013, the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 South Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 8009 Fort Hund Road, Alexandria, Virginia, 22308.
