HERMAN OTTO LUBBES, JR. "H.O."  
Died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 29, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane Gordon Lubbes; two daughters, J. Noelle Hardy and Laura J. Pearson (J.R.), two grandchildren, Robert James Pearson and Alexis Grace Hardy; Dan Hardy; two brothers, R. Kirk Lubbes and Robert L. Baker, and many more loving relatives and friends. He was a Washington, DC native born to Herman O. Lubbes, Sr. and Hazel (Young) Lubbes on August 6, 1938, and raised in Carroll Highlands and Beltsville, MD. He graduated in the first graduating class from High Point High School, Beltsville, MD. He then received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, where he was on a work-study plan with the Bureau of Ships, Navy Department, Washington, DC. He lived in Calverton, Beltsville, MD. He worked for the Navy Department: Bureau of Ships, Navelex, SPAWAR and NRL for 37 ½ years. His area of expertise was computer security. During his career, he served on various senior-level national and international computer security committees. He also was one of the founders and served on the Board of Directors of COMPASS, annual conferences focusing on Computer Assurance. After retiring from the Navy Department, he went to work for Trusted Information Systems, Glenwood, MD and moved to Mount Airy. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting, fishing and shooting, and belonged to the Isaac Walton League. He also enjoyed being with his family and especially delighted in his grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the evening of Saturday, June 11. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Isaac Walton League, Wildlife Achievement Chapter, P. O. Box 213, Damascus, MD 20872; Friends in Frederick (Parkinson's Disease Support Group), P. O.
