Deacon IAN RAVENSCROFT (Age 80)  

Died peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. He was a resident of Seattle, WA after living in Potomac, MD for 49 years. Beloved husband of Elizabeth W. Ravenscroft for 51 years. Loving Father of Paul (Kathy), Olney, MD, Christopher (Catharina) of Ambler, PA, Timothy (Elise) of Washington, DC, Annie (Sean Hyde) of Federal Way, WA and Kate (Dan Umbach) of Seattle, WA. Cherished "Grandpa" to 11 grandchildren, Claire, Andrew, Grace, Gwen, Jessica, James, Lizzie, Julia, Abby, Eric and Jane. Ian is also survived by his brother Alan of Ontario, CN and numerous nieces and nephews in Maryland, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and Canada.
Born in England in 1933, graduated from London School of Economics in 1956.He moved to the US and married in 1961 and became a citizen in 1970. He lived and worked most of his life in the Washington DC area. Ian was an economist and retired from Mitre Corp in 1993. He was ordained a Deacon of the Archdiocese of Washington in 1990 and served most of his ministry at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Potomac, MD and visiting the sick at Suburban Hospital and Manor Care Nursing Home.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy, 9200 Kentsdale Dr., Potomac, MD. Interment will follow at St. Gabriel Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320, 280 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087 or a .
