JAMES RUSSELL GLASSCO, JR.
Died November 13, 2012; he was born January 17, 1925 in St. Louis, MO. Son of James R. and Leta Heim Glassco. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 1950 and served four years in the U.S. Navy
during World War II. From 1974 until his retirement in 1991 he was Treasurer of the U.S. Postal Service; from 1953 until 1960 he held positions with the Anderson Clayton Company and the National Bank of Commerce in Houston, TX. From 1960 to 1974 he worked for the Aetna Life and Casualty Company in Hartford, CT. His retirement provided time for his serious and frequesnt participation in the National Senior Games where he won many medals for swimming. He also held state records at the masters level in swimming and he enjoyed playing golf, bridge and tennis. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, of McLean, and three sons James M. and Benjamin B. Glassco of McLean and William S. Glassco of Tiverton, R.I. he was predeceased by a daughter Elizaberth in 2002. Services will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church, Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA. at 11 a.m. Monday, November 19. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Johns Church.
