JAMES FERGUSON Obituary
JAMES STUART FERGUSON (Age 62)
Of Norfolk, VA, passed away June 4, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born August 15, 1952, in Newport News, VA, to Cornelius Guy Ferguson, Jr., and Margaret Stephens Ferguson, both deceased. He is survived by his brothers, Richard Ferguson of Asheville, NC, and Cornelius Ferguson of Fort Worth, TX; a sister, Meredith Coldren of Norfolk; eight nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Cheryl Eggar. He served in the U.S. Army. Orthopedic and Spine Center in Newport News employed him as an IT manager. He had previously provided technical services for Booz Allen Hamilton, Andersen Consulting and other firms in the Washington, DC area, New York City, and Newport News. He was a graduate of J.E.B. Stuart High School in Fairfax County, VA; North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville; and Old Dominion University in Norfolk. James was a much-loved uncle, brother, and friend with a gentle spirit and generous heart. He enjoyed music, cars, and retro electronic equipment. His favorite activities were hiking and camping in the mountains and fishing on the Outer Banks. Always cheerful and ready to engage his quirky sense of humor, he never lost these qualities even while ill. The family will arrange a memorial event, date and location to be announced. My best friend through thick and thin. Sitting around the campfire laughing until we fell off our chairs. Four wheel driving up and down the Outer Banks searching for that unknown spot that turned out to be another perfect day.
I miss you my friend.

I was sorry to learn of Jeb's passing from today's paper. The Ferguson home in Lake Barcroft backed up to ours, and Jeb and I used to play guitar together back in the '60's. He introduced me to the electric bass, which turned out to be a major interest of mine in later years. I remember his gentle good humor, and I've thought of him often. My condolences to the family.
