On January 31, 2013. Jeanette M. Rogers was born December 26, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Frank B. Malik and Barbara (Kucera) Malik. She married Glen O. Rogers, a WWII US Navy veteran, on June 23, 1948. She was widowed on April 23, 1992, and is survived by her daughter, Sharon Massie; her son-in-law, Reginald Massie; her granddaughter, Michelle Massie; many nieces and nephews.
Jan was active, while she was able, in the Ravenwood Park Citizens Association. Her neighbors recall her frequent donation of new bird houses and feeders, which, along with food items, she also provided for the Ravenwood Park Annual Oktoberfest raffle. The neighborhood is not the same without her.
A true lover of animals, Jan has given generously to the SPCA of Northern VA. Grateful for their always prompt and professional service, she has also given to the Bailey's Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department. Though she left no specific directive regarding memorial contributions, she would surely have been grateful for donations to these organizations.
Jan will join her husband in Arlington National Cemetery as soon as arrangements can be made. It is expected that the ceremony at Arlington will take place in the early spring. There will be a reception afterward for her loved ones, friends, and neighbors.
