MENDELSON JEROME MENDELSON "Jerry" At the age of 85, and ready for his "second childhood", Jerome "Jerry " Mendelson, lost his life suddenly to pancreatic cancer on June 13, 2012. This energetic and inspiring gentleman was happiest and at his best when he was making others smile with his poems and cartoons. He was even a published author at the age of 79, creating a book about humor, of course. Always the "Showman", even at the age of 16, he was featured in Life Magazine (front page no less) modeling the then popular Zoot Suit. With the help of his deceased wife Vera and their sons, they successfully owned and operated Jands and Photo 24, one of the largest graphic arts and photography studios in the Washington metropolitan area for over 40 years. Jerry was born in Washington, D.C.(9.1.1926) and lived in Rockville until his recent move to a gorgeous condo beside the Chesapeake Bay in Norfolk, VA. Jerry took great pride in his devoted family and they treasure his memory with a Big Smile. He is survived by his wife Virginia "Ginny" Mendelson of Norfolk, VA., and her family, son Dr. Gary Mendelson and wife Dawn of Potomac, MD., son Stuart Mendelson of Norfolk, VA., grandchildren Emily Colleen Cuya and husband Herbert of Clarksburg, MD., Jonathan Mendelson of Tempe, AZ., Jennifer Thorpe and husband Lee of Destin, FL., Ashley Mendelson of Norfolk, VA., and great grandson Tyler Alexander Cuya of Clarksburg, MD. Jerry will truly be missed for all his wisdom and humor by his family and friends. A memorial service is being held at the Judean Memorial Gardens located at 16225 Batchelors Forest Road, Olney, Maryland 20832 on June 29, 2012 at 10 a.m. After the funeral there will be a gathering at the home of Gary and Dawn Mendelson.
