Joe Rodden departed from this world after a fearless five-year battle against the cancer that finally took his brief but vivacious life on April 3, 2013. Born in Philadelphia July 25th, 1960, son of the late James and Catherine (nee McLaughlin) Rodden, Joe was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School, class of 1978 and LaSalle College, class of 1982. He was the brother of Jimmy (Judy), Connell (Carol) and Greg Rodden, nephew of Bill and Peg Rodden, Viviane McLaughlin and Kathleen Johanson, and uncle of C. J., Dierdre, and Megan Rodden. Joe last worked at HCM Strategists, but he is best remembered as a student of current events, an enthusiastic traveler, fearless skier, omniscient Anglophile, and scintillating, scandalously funny and caring host for the countless friends who felt always and ever blessed by his laughter, companionship and love. Joe is survived by his loving partner of 15 years, John Whall. In lieu of flowers, Joe's memory may be honored with donations to Food and Friends, 219 Riggs Rd. NE, Washington, DC 20011 and/or The Sisters of Mercy, 515 Montgomery Ave, Merion Station, PA 19066. A celebration of Joe's life befitting his Irish heritage and joyous spirit will be held this Saturday, April 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fathom Creative Gallery, 1333 14th St., NW, Washington, DC 20005.
