John B. Tippett, Sr. died peacefully December 24, 2012, after a brief illness. John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Licia (nee Caponiti); their four children, John Jr., Mary Kay, Ed, and Terri; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Karl; sister, Grace Marie Gardiner; niece, Maria Fiery; and numerous other family members and friends. In addition to family patriarch, John's long life included U. S. Army service in the Korean War, 36 years with C&P Telephone (later Bell Atlantic), Past Fourth Degree Grand Knight with Knights of Columbus, and selfless service to St. Jude's Catholic Church in Rockville. Viewing will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013, 7 to 9 p.m. at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013, 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Road, Damascus, MD. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
