Of Churchville, VA died Sunday, February 24, 2013 in his home. Born January 14, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of Peter John and Mary Agnes (Lavery) King. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and retired from the State Department after 23 years of employment. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Laura Ann Williams King; five children and their spouses, Peter and Mary King of Herndon, Andrew and Deborah King of St. Petersburg, FL, James and Jan King of Primm Springs, TN, Juliana and Don Benner of Deerfield and Mariana and Bryan Straathof of Bethesda, MD; and thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and a brother. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Monsignor Andrew Cassin. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
