JOHN J. OWEN  

John Jerauld Owen, "Jack", UVA's first VP for Development, died November 17, 2012 at almost 97. A graduate of Sidwell Friends Academy and the Episcopal High School, and UVA engineer, he specialized in ordnance in WW II and the Korean War. As a civilian, he rose in industry to head the Millers Falls Tool Company, Greenfield, MA. At 50 he began a new career in fundraising for secondary and higher education. Survivors who have lived in the D.C. area are his daughter-in-law, Kim Ann Borsavage, and her children, Julia P., John J., and Carter B. Owen. UVA Chapel memorial service is at 1 p.m. on December 15, 2012.
