Of Silver Spring, Maryland, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at age 89. Beloved husband of Helen C. Ryan; father of Jeanne Ryan Wolfson and her husband, James; grandfather of Elizabeth Ryan Wolfson and Caroline Helen Wolfson of Rockville, MD. Born in Lowell, MA, John served in WWII and spent his career in the federal government. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling and his family. Also survived by a large Irish clan of siblings, nieces, nephews and their children, and his beloved in-laws. Friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave., (Rt. 28, exit 6A just off I-270) on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, Maryland 20906 on Monday, March 4 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
