JOHN O. YEO
John O. Yeo, age 87, of Fairfax, VA died peacefully at home on the morning of November 19, 2012. Born and raised in and around Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late William H. and Della (Terrill) Yeo. After graduating from Medfield High School, John served as a US Navy
Yeoman First Class in World War II
, participating in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. John was an honors graduate of Tufts University and received a Masters degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
John married Suzanne Morse of Medfield, MA on Christmas Day in 1950. One week later he shipped out to serve as US Army 2nd Lieutenant in the Korean War
until May 1952. The couple settled in Fairfax, VA in 1953. He worked as an international economist at the CIA for 25 years and was chief of the Current Economic Intelligence staff. For two years he was assigned as Intelligence Briefing Officer to the White House Economic Policy Group led by Secretaries of the Treasury George Schultz and William Simon. For one year he worked with the translation of foreign intelligence materials.
John is survived by a son Mark Yeo and his wife Lorraine of Centreville,VA and a daughter Lisa Yeo of Portland Oregon, as well as three grandsons, Thomas and Robert Yeo and McKenzie Kerman; as well as many nieces and nephews. John was brother of the late Rensforth Yeo of Whitinsville, MA.
Friends will be received at John's home on Saturday, November 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will be held in December at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, MA with burial to follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.
