FOLLIN JOHN W. FOLLIN "Jack" The Hon. John Walker "Jack" Follin of Falls Church, VA passed away October 9, 2015 in Falls Church, VA. A lifelong resident of Falls Church, he was 92. Mr. Follin graduated from Washington-Lee High School in 1941. He joined the U.S. Navy immediately following Pearl Harbor and saw combat with P.T. boats in New Guinea during World War II. He graduated from Yale University in 1947 and George Washington Law School in 1953. He led an illustrious career beginning as a teacher and boxing coach at Fairfax High School where he met his wife Dibrell in the late 1940s. Mr. Follin then worked as a Probation Officer and Assistant Register of Wills for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. He culminated his career as Auditor Master (Judge) of the D.C. Superior Court following the passage of home rule for the District, retiring in 1989. Mr. Follin was an active member of the Touchdown Club, Home Plate Club, Washington Boxing Hall of Fame, D.C. Bar Association, Barristers, Counsellors, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and P.T. Boats, Inc. He served as chairman of the President's Cup Regatta hydroplane races formerly held on the Potomac River in Washington. Mr. Follin was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan, holding season tickets for 42 years. Mr. Follin was born June 22, 1923 to Walter and Lucy Follin in Falls Church. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dibrell, daughter Terri Holdway of Memphis, TN, sons Rodney (friend Peggy Tucker) of Centreville, VA and Gary (Kim) of Falls Church, sister Katherine Hodkinson (Robert) of Oklahoma City, OK, and numerous nephews and nieces, as well as two special family friends, Tom Anderson and John Ballenger. Mr. Follin was predeceased by his brother William of Falls Church. A memorial service and reception will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9274, 7118 Shreve Road in Falls Church on Sunday, October 18 at 1 p.m. Interment will occur at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
