On Christmas Day, 2012, Joyce A. Rylyk passed away at her home in Alexandria, VA with family by her side after a long battle with cancer. Born in Marbury, MD, she moved to Northern Virginia in the early 1980's. She was an athlete who enjoyed in particular tennis, bowling, and weight lifting; and retired this past July from the Federal Government after more than 30 years of service. She was a vivacious woman who never met a stranger and was loved by many. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Dent. She is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Andrew Rylyk; beloved children, LaTisha Savoy, Eric (Karen) Alberger, and Blake (Conna) Alberger, Catherine (Henry) Ennis; grandchildren, Johnathan and Kaylee. She is also survived by her mother, Doreen Dent; brother, James (Carolyn) Lee; nephews, Carlos and Shaun Lee; and a host of other family and friends. A gathering will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 2 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1427 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either your house of worship, lung cancer research, or Capital Caring. A guest register may be found at
