Karin Kincaid Obituary
KARIN JENNIFER KYSILKA KINCAID (Age 38)
Of Vienna, VA, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 2, 2011. Beloved wife of Mark Andrew Kincaid; loving mother of Alexander Edward Kincaid and Brycen Matthew Kincaid; daughter of Carolyn and the late Edward Kysilka; sister of Cheryl (Jay) Yost and Lori Dell. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Karin was a graduate from Penn State University and Harvard Law School. She practiced law for Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman along with being an adored wife and mother. Visitation will be held at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Monday, June 6 and Tuesday June 7, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Karin's Life will be held at Rock Spring Congregational United Church of Christ, 5010 Little Falls Rd., Arlington, VA 22207 on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at Bareville Cemetery, Leola, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alex and Bryce Education Fund at any Bank of America. Please view and sign the family's guestbook online at www.moneyandking.com

I know it's been a while since anyone has really posted here, but I wanted to say thanks, mom. For everything. Even now, all of these years later, I still really care about you. I know I'm doing fine, and so is Brycen, too. Looking forward to sharing my stories with you about my graduation :)

I worked with Karin at Pillsbury and knew her as a bright and talented attorney. What I remember most about Karin, however, is that no matter how busy she was, she would always take time to stop and say hello. She was a kind, warm and genuine soul, and she always willing to lend a hand. I am deeply saddened to learn of her passing.

I am profoundly sorry to learn of Karin's passing. I learned of Karin's story from her friend Kate who reached out to our organization. I suffered AFE during the delivery of my son in 2008 and started an organization to offer support to families that have been affected and devastated by AFE. We would like to connect with you to see how we can best support you and your sons. We'd also like to connect you to another father in Baltimore (also a Penn State Grad) who works for SAIC in VA. He lost his wife, Teresa to AFE and would love to offer you his support, as he truly understands what you have been faced with. Again, we are here to support you when the time is appropriate.

My thoughts and prayers are with Karin's family. I went to law school with Karin. We did not keep in touch after graduating but I clearly remember her generosity of spirit and enthusiasm for life. She was a wonderfully down to earth person. I hope and expect that her children will live with the same optimism that Karin always displayed.

I worked with Karin at Shaw Pittman and hadn't seen or talked to Karin for several years but remember her as a warm, sincere and caring individual. I knew her before she became a mom but I can't imagine her being anything less than an amazing mother. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Although I never got the privilege of meeting Karin face to face I considered her a true friend. Over the years she offered support and thoughtful advice to so many on the trach forum, myself included. I will forever miss reading what Karin would have had to say. Mark, we were so sad to hear of Karin's passing. Karin and I practiced together at Pillsbury, and we remained in touch after I left the firm. Everyone's comments are so spot-on; she was a vibrant, intelligent, generous friend who took care of others. We had fun seeing you at Dunn Loring Woods last summer; my children enjoyed playing with Alex. Alex was very clearly the light of Karin's life, as I know Bryce would be as well. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Dear Kincaid family: I am so sorry for your loss. I met Karin last year through our sons' preschool and from the very first day found her to be a wonderful, kind, loving lady and friend. She was always there to help me and my son in several different (& difficult) situations and was first one to offer a helping hand and loving advice. Mark, may God bless you and give you strength to raise two beautiful sons you have. Alex, and Brycen always know that your mom loved you very very much and you made her very happy.

Although I never knew your family personally I had made a small connection with Karin concerning our son's. She was so kind and willing to share. My heart goes out to Mark, Alex, Brycen, and the family as you remember Karin and the wonderful life she lived. Karin made a huge impact on many mother's lives who were going through challenging times or needed some advice as they are caring for children with special needs. She will never be forgotten.

I only knew Karin in a online sense though the trachestomy boards but she was always such a bright and vibrant soul who came to the boards with a wealth of information she was willing to share. Mark, Alex and Brycen -- I only came to know Karin in the last year, since Alex joined our preschool. She stood out as someone willing to step up and help where she could; to always offer an insight and to always be there for those that needed her. Please know Karin was a considerate part of our trach parent family, she was always so kind to everyone, very generous with her knowledge and a very intelligent woman. Mark: I came to know your wife through collaborating in a worldwide effort to bring another family of a child with a trach home from an area of disaster. Her skills in establishing & extending networks were strengths that contributed to the success of our efforts.
