I did not know Dr. Stookey, but I just came across two prayers in the Methodist Hymnal that he crafted, one for the sick and one for those who grieve, and I took pictures of them so that I might use those beautiful words the next time I need them. Just wanted you to know that though the man you loved has moved on to eternal glory, his influence for good continues on here on earth.

I think fondly of my time as a student at WTS, with Dr. Stookey as my worship professor. His piety had a profound impact on me. I often thought of him and I was looking for information on baptism and I found this obituary. I know he is at peace. I will miss him.

To the family of Dr. Stookey, my prayers are with you as you go through what must be a very difficult time. Dr. Stookey was one of my favorite professors at Wesley Theological Seminary.
