1937 - 2013

A kind and caring person, adored mother, and beloved grandmother, Lou Ann Hubacher of Alexandria, VA passed away on February 19, 2013. She is survived by son Arthur Hubacher, daughter-in-law Nancy Hubacher, grandchildren Brandon and Bailey Hubacher, sisters Mary McKown and Janet Huffman, and a large and loving extended family. "Lou Lou" was also a dear and devoted friend to many- humans and animals alike. Raised in Salem, West Virginia, she graduated from West Virginia University and moved to Alexandria following graduate school. She launched a notable working life as an educator (Spingarn High School, Washington, DC) before embarking on a 25-year Federal career as a human resource specialist for Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and other defense agencies. After a brief retirement, she went back to work at the Society for Human Resources Management in Alexandria.
A gifted cook, she pampered her family; and her genuine warmth made her a favorite of children, kittens, and puppies. Her family and a legion of friends will miss her and cherish her memory. Donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States at www.humanesociety.org. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 24, at 10 a.m., at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22032.
