Memories and Condolences
for LOUIS NIGRO

Not sure what to say?

February 7, 2013

I am forever grateful to Ambassador Nigro for his mentoring and the example he set for me as a Foreign Service Officer. He was a tremendous Deputy Chief of Mission in Conakry, Guinea, where he and his wife Tarja were the most gracious and hospitable hosts with close friends and contacts throughout the diplomatic community there. My sincere condolences to Tarja and to the Nigro family. Lori Shoemaker, U.S. Embassy Seoul

I first met Lou in Chad, when he was Ambassador. He struck me then -- and then in Italy, where we were at a conference -- as the consummate scholar-diplomat. I was looking to reconnect when I just discovered the posting of his untimely death. He was a model for many. - Prof. William Miles, Northeastern University, Boston

Lou was a neighbor and schoolmate. Even in high school, it was very apparent that he was destined for great success.
My deepest sympathies to the Nigro family.
