MARGARET ANNE BROOKS
(Age 81)
Departed this life on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Most recently a resident of Sunrise at Bluemont Park, Arlington, VA, she is survived by one daughter, Maryanne Torrey (Scott Price); two sons, David Torrey (partner, Dave) and Joel Torrey (Gail); grandchildren, Scotty Price, Rebecca Mele-Torrey and Rachel Mele-Torrey; and a host of other relatives and friends. She is also survived by her devoted friend, Mr. Dick Yates of Deale, MD and his loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Mr. Arthur Red (1999). Ms. Brooks, a renowned sailor, nature lover, horseback rider, and tennis player, retired from the Library of Congress, and she thereafter worked at the Ocala, Florida, Library. Her favorite book was Arthur Ransome's
Swallows and Amazons. A memorial service will be held at a date, time, and place to be announced. Arrangements and cremation were entrusted to MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Arlington, VA.
