OREM MARGARET DAVIES OREM (Age 92) Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, active community volunteer and garden enthusiast, accomplished bridge player and party-giver extraordinaire, died peacefully in her sleep during the night of June 29, 2012. She lived a life full of tireless work for organizations, liberal use of her favorite color pink, and generosity that knew only the bounds of her imagination. She was born March 2, 1920 in Orange, NJ, to the late Henry and Amelia Davies, and known to her friends and family as PegE. She attended Montclair public schools and graduated from Fairfax Hall in Waynesboro, VA in 1939. After her schooling her family moved to Cleveland, OH where she met and married Sidney R. Orem, in 1941. The young couple moved to Dayton, OH where Sidney was stationed as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. Their oldest child, Sara, was born in Dayton before their transfer to Washington D.C. where their son, Nick, was born. After World War II the Orems settled in Greenwich, CT where Tom, their youngest son, was born. The Orems lived in Greenwich until Tom was almost ready for college. Then moves to Birmingham, AL; Norwalk, CT; Alexandria, VA, and finally St. Michaels gave Sid and PegE opportunities for new friends, new adventures and parties. No one loved a party more than PegE, and she embraced any excuse for one. Concurrent with Sid's death in 1993, PegE moved to Londonderry, a retirement community in Easton, MD, where she made many new friends, had many more reasons for parties, and continued into her eighties as a valued and energetic volunteer for her church and for the Woman's Club of St. Michaels. She provided opportunities for her children, grandchildren, and dear friends that they would not otherwise have had, and touched many people with the thoughtfulness of her gifts. She was a great planner, a great giver, and a woman who made the most of every moment. She always knew exactly what she wanted and felt no hesitation in expressing her beliefs and values to her family and friends PegE is survived by her three children, Sara, Nick, and Tom Orem; their spouses Murray, Phyllis and Karen; eight grandchildren: Lindsay, Blake, Paige, Nick, Jr., Maggie, Jody, Rebecca, and Tom, Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church, St. Michael's Parish at 2 PM on Saturday, July 7, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Church, St. Michael's Parish, P.O. Box S, St. Michaels, MD 21663.
