Margaret "Peggy" Lamson Cole died Thursday, December 6, 2012, at age 89. She was born in Ludlow, MA. She grew up in Massachusetts, but moved to Bethesda, Maryland in 1949 with her husband, Dr. Roger Martin Cole, a microbiologist at NIH, who passed away in 2001.
Peggy's love of art figured largely in her life. She painted watercolor landscapes and abstract acrylics, and did fine pastel portraits. She belonged to the Montgomery County Art League among several other art leagues, and was a docent at the Smithsonian Museum of American Art for 19 years. An active member of the River Road Unitarian Church since its inception, she taught Sunday school and served on many committees, including the Fine Arts Committee, hanging monthly shows of local artists.
She is survived by her five children - Laurence, Richard, Susan, Marthe, George and four grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for the springtime.
