Passed December 29, 2012 after contending with a rare cancer that was first diagnosed 20 years ago. She worked for the federal government for 32 years and spent the last 10 years living and working in Washington, DC. She retired in 2008 while working for the Department of Justice. Prior to retiring she worked with a team that was proudly awarded the Attorney General Distinguished Service Award, President's Council on Integrity and Efficiency Award for Excellence, and the Inspector General Award for Honor for work associated with 911 and the Patriot Act. Marilyn enjoyed the Arts throughout her life. She had a special interest in the music of her Scottish and Irish ancestry, especially ballads. She was a big fan of the poetry of Robert Burns, the national poet of Scotland, committing several of his poems to memory. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Alanna Lang of Apopka, Fl.; sister, Terri Ireland of Casselberry, Fl.; brother, Gary Jones of Independence, MO; and brother and his wife Larry and Linda Jones of Virginia Beach, VA. A memorial service will held to celebrate her life at the Orlando Museum of Art on January 12, 2013 at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Capital Area Carcinoid Survivors or the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation.
