MARJORIE DAVIS SHELTON
Marjorie Davis Shelton, died peacefully on April 14, 2017 at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill to whom she was happily married until his death in 1998. She was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. In 1943, she met and married Lt. Cmdr. William C. Shelton Jr. of Washington D.C. and came to the United States as a "war bride" in 1945. They brought with them their daughter Robyn, born in Melbourne in 1944. Their second daughter Duane was born in Washington, D.C. in 1946. Marjorie was an active volunteer, a member of the former Florence Circle for the Florence Crittenden House, The Circle for Ivymount School, the former Inner Wheel Club of Rotary wives, Curio Chapter of Questers Antiques Club, member and Past President of Hoe n' Hope Garden Club, and Columbia Country Club. She is survived by her daughters, Robyn Spagnolo (Bob) of Newport, RI and Duane Tydings (George) of Toowoomba, Australia; four grandchildren, Craig Kauffmann (Sheila), Ashley Porch (Ben), Chase Tydings (Kirsten) and George Tydings Jr. (Carrie), as well as seven great-grandchildren, Livia and Max Kauffmann; Caroline, George and Elizabeth Tydings; and Grace and Hope Tydings. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marjorie's life at Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church on May 2 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gladly received in Marjorie's memory to: Center for Children and Families, 6301 Greentree Road, Bethesda, MD 20817.
