Of Capitol Heights, MD, formerly of Republic, PA passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at her family home in Pennsylvania with her family by her side. She is the daughter of the late Alfred E. and Velma L. Thompson.
Ann was a 1964 graduate of Redstone High School in Merrittstown, PA and then moved to the Washington, DC-MD area. She worked at The Washington Post as a Classified Sales Representative for 29 years and retired in 2009.
Ann was a member of Friendship Church Outreach Ministry, Inc. in Chapel Oaks, MD. She was a true prayer warrior for God. She fed and ministered to the homeless every Sunday. She spread the word of God through different ministries including the jails. She loved her family dearly especially her two grandchildren Devan and Caleb Wood, her four great-grandchildren Devan, Jr, Kyah, Caleb, Jr, and Mason Wood. Although she resided in the DC-MD area, she loved her Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
She is preceded in death by three brothers, David L. Thompson, Robert E. Thompson and Alfred L. Thompson. She is survived by her only child Roshetta N. Wood, Brownsville, PA; two sisters Edna M. Thompson-Easterlin, Clinton, MD, Eunice V. Thompson-Leake and husband David Leake, Republic, PA; brother James S. Thompson, Republic, PA; sister-in-law Geraldine Thompson, Merrittstown, PA; two grandchildren Devan J. Wood and fiancé Lolita Thomas, Uniontown, PA, Caleb M. Wood and fiancé Brittany Patterson, Brownsville, PA; four great-grandchildren Devan J. Wood, Jr, Kyah M. Wood, Caleb M. Wood, Jr and Mason J. Wood. Several nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
Arrangements entrusted to Lantz Funeral Home, Inc. 297 E. Main Street, Uniontown, PA 15401. The funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at St. Paul's A.M.E. Church, 187 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA 15401. Pastor Alfred Thompson officiating. Interment will be family private. Online condolences may be made to the family and obituary can be viewed at
