WESSLUND MARY MARGARET WESSLUND Of Friendship Heights, MD, formerly Arden Hills, MN, passed away peacefully on February 7 after a short stay in the hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. ("Bob") Wesslund; parents, Jack and Dolores Ries; son Donald Wesslund; brother John Ries; and sisters-in-law Virginia Ries and Ida Wesslund. She is survived by five children: Paul (Debbie) Wesslund of Louisville, KY, Eileen (William) Beran of Kalona, IA, Ann (Steve) Lahm of Montrose, CO, Barbara (Greg) Dunn of Silver Spring, MD, and James (Rebecca) Wesslund of O'Fallon, IL. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, William O. Wesslund of North Platte, NE, as well as 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 15 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Margaret was born in Norfolk, NE, and the family later moved to Lindsay, NE, then Battle Creek, NE. After earning a nursing degree and becoming an RN, she met her husband. She worked as a nurse until they married in Battle Creek in 1951. They moved to St. Paul, then Roseville, then Arden Hills. She devoted her life to supporting her husband in his demanding career in the early days of the computer industry, raising their children, keeping up the home, caring for her mother, and providing gracious, untiring hospitality to friends, relatives, and business associates. She and Bob moved to Arlington Heights, IL, in 2008 to be near their daughter Barbara. After Bob passed away, Margaret moved to Friendship Heights, MD, in 2009, when her daughter moved to that area. Margaret was known for her kindness and concern for everyone in her life as well as her sense of style and subtle wit. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 15, 10:30 a.m., at St. Odilia Church, 3495 Victoria St. No., Shoreview. Visitation at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. will precede the Mass. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights.
