MARY PRESTON FOOTE HENDRICK

Passed from this life on November 10, 2012 from complications due to a stroke at Beth Sholom Home of Virginia. She is survived by her brother, Jay B. Foote Jr. of Charlottesville VA; daughter, Jennie Arnold of Centreville VA; son, Benjamin O. Hendrick Jr. of Glen Allen VA; and 2 grandchildren, Benjamin D. and Jessica L. Hendrick. Preston, as she was affectionately known, was a dedicated mother and tireless Fairfax County MSW Social Service Supervisor who devoted her professional life to helping others in need of compassion and support. In life, she enjoyed family and friends, traveling, gardening, music of all kinds, reading, and was a great sports car enthusiast. She was a catalyst in the creation of the Virginia International Raceway in 1957, and again in the resurrection of the raceway in 2000. Her charm, wit, strength, and personality will always remain with the memories of the ones who loved her. Being a private person, her ashes will be spread on family land in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the mosaic page:
