On Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Loving wife of Edward Allen Aaronson who predeceased her in 2005. She is survived by her children, Doris Aaronson, David Aaronson (Laura) and Jean Rosenfeld (George); and her grandchildren, Sunny Lerner (Akiba) and Stephanie Kurek (Itzhak); great-grandchildren, Ellie and Jeremiah Lerner and Lily Kurek; and her step-grandchildren Dara Schreiber (William Jr.) and Jared Prushansky. After raising her children, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Howard University and began a long career focused on child development at NIMH, where she supervised grants, created an enrichment program for underserved children and authored Baby and the Other Teachers (A book for young mothers). She co-authored and authored numerous published observational checklists for child behaviors, and created The Child at Risk Screener, published by McGraw-Hill. She was an active, lifelong member of B'nai Israel and Hadassah. A graveside service will be held at King David Memorial Gardens, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 19, followed by a reception at 12 Noon at Somerset House II, 5610 Wisconsin Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD. Donations may be made to Jewish Social Service Agency at or 301-610-8370.
