MICHAEL MICHAELIS (Age 95)  
Of Chevy Chase, MD, died peacefully on May 19, 2015, surrounded by family, in Kensington, MD. Born June 8, 1919, in Berlin, Germany, he was the only child of Georg and Martha Bl??th Michaelis.  As a teenager, he fled the rise of Hitler's Third Reich, emigrating to England in 1932, where he received his engineering degree from the University of London. During World War II, he worked on the secret joint Anglo-American radar development program through the General Electric Company, Ltd. In 1951, Michael joined the management consultant firm, Arthur D. Little (ADL), Cambridge, MA. In 1961, he came to Washington, D.C. to serve as a science advisor in the Kennedy White House. Subsequently, he opened and led ADL's Washington office, where he worked until his retirement. He later founded his own firm, Partners-in-Enterprise. Always passionate about innovation, he designed a PEPCO-sponsored pilot program for inner-city elementary school science education, known as Lab Mobile. He treasured his long time membership in the Cosmos Club, where he served as secretary, vice-president, and president. His first marriage to Diana Tead ended in divorce. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Caroline; two sons from his first marriage, Peter Michaelis and David (Nancy) Michaelis; three step-children, Amie (Renee) Bishop, Jeb (Alex) Bishop, and Bill (Carol) Bishop; and eleven grandchildren: Peter and Drew Michaelis of Bedford, NY; Jamie, Henry, and Diana Michaelis of New York City; Benjamin and Nicholas Bishop of Seattle, WA; Kiran and Ariel Bishop of Beijing, China; and Will and James Bishop of Washington, DC. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff and team of caregivers at Kensington Park Retirement Community, who took such excellent and loving care of him.  A celebration of Michael's life will be held at the Cosmos Club in the Fall, 2015.
