MILDRED C. DAY (Age 98)  

Mildred Cowan Day, a registered nurse and longtime resident of Hyattsville, MD, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012, at Friends House in Sandy Spring, MD.
Mrs. Day was born and raised in Windsor, NC. She was a 1935 graduate of Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD. Early in her career, she worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
She was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. Following her military service at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, she settled in the Washington area.
Mrs. Day was active in the community and worked in several area hospitals, including Prince George's General Hospital, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Veterans Administration Hospital, and Glenn Dale Hospital, before retiring in 1976. She enjoyed traveling, and she remained involved in a variety of activities.
Mrs. Day was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hyattsville.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Frye of Silver Spring, MD, and Carolyn (Charles) Foster of Bel Air, MD; four grandsons, Patrick (Marilou) Frye of Denver, CO, Eric (Melissa) Foster of Belcamp, MD, Michael Foster of Salisbury, MD and Christopher Foster of Bel Air, MD; three great-grandchildren, Justin Frye, Tyler Frye and MacKenzie Foster; two sisters, Nonie Brock of Melbourne, FL and Pauline (Robert) Lingo of Norfolk, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services were held at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
