Of Arlington, VA passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 23, 2014 of a brain hemorrhage. She was born in North Korea and escaped to the South. She went on to graduate from the Sung Kyun Gwan University in Seoul, a prestigious pharmaceutical college before immigrating first to Canada and then the United States. She became a US citizen in 1980. She is divorced and survived by a daughter, Judith Vermilye. She worked for United Medical Center in Washington, DC for more than 30 years, was a real estate investor, and was active at Clarendon United Methodist Church. Her memorial service will be held at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington, 4510 Wilson Blvd. at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, with a viewing Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation fund has been set up, donations to: Clarendon United Methodist Church, Attn: Treasurer - Vermilye memorial, 606 N Irving St, Arlington, VA 22201.
