BRUCKNER NANCY V. BRUCKNER, M.D. Nancy V. Bruckner, M.D., of McLean, VA, died November 19, 2012 after more than a decade-long battle with breast cancer. She was 61. Dr. Bruckner was raised in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of Isaiah Von, a chemist, and Bernice Von, both now deceased. In their later years Dr. Bruckner's parents resided in McLean, VA. Dr. Bruckner attended public school and graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972. She attended medical school at George Washington University in Washington, DC, from which she earned a Doctorate of Medicine in 1976. She began a residency in Internal Medicine at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC and after two years changed her focus to Dermatology, completing a three year residency at the George Washington University in 1981. She was a member of the Washington, DC Dermatologic Society. Dr. Bruckner practiced dermatology in McLean, VA for 27 years before retiring for illness. She was awarded the "Top Doctor" accolade by Washingtonian Magazine multiple times. She had a large loyal practice and was lauded for her compassion and for her diagnostic acumen. Dr. Bruckner was married to Steven M. Bruckner in 1973. This year marked 40 wonderful years together. They have one daughter, Jessica, who resides in Bend, OR. Late in life Dr. Bruckner discovered a talent for oil painting, specializing in portraiture. Other than her husband, Steve and daughter, Jessica, Dr. Bruckner is survived by her brother, Richard Von, his wife, Diana, and their son, Vincent, who live in Avondale, PA. She is also survived by her aunt, Myra Brickman and uncle, Louis Brickman of Albany, NY and by three cousins and their families: Susan Brickman of Reston, VA, David Brickman of Rochester, NY, and Judy Lasher of Selkirk ,NY. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2pm at The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax (www/uucf.org), 2709 Hunter Mill Rd / Oakton, VA 22124. It is suggested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Capital Caring Hospice (www.capitalcaring.org).
