PAUL ELDRIDGE (Age 94)  
Of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2011. He was born December 17, 1916, in Washington, DC, to the late Dan and Clara Eldridge, and he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Delaney Eldridge and son, Gregory Eldridge. He is survived by his children, Susan Fague, Julia Eldridge and Dan Eldridge; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Paul graduated summa cum laude from the Catholic University in Washington, DC, and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. His career with the US Government began as a meteorologist with the Weather Bureau in Seattle, WA and Anchorage, AK, and he retired as a senior statistician at the Federal Aviation Administration after supporting airline deregulation at the Civil Aeronautics Board. After his retirement, Paul and Marie moved from Chevy Chase, MD to Durham, NC in 1987 and thence to their retirement home in Chapel Hill. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Cross, Chapel Hill, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Chapel of the Cross, Chapel Hill, NC.

I met Paul Eldridge at the Dubose Health Center when I brought nursing assistant students there. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with him about his work and his family. He was a man of few words, but he was always kind to me.
