POONG IM "Paul" (Age 76)  
On February 13, 2011, passed away peacefully in Fairfax, VA. Beloved husband of Kate Im for 41 years. Devoted father of Robert Im, Fairfax, VA and Bryan Im, Las Vegas, NV. Endearing grandfather of Mirina and Osten Im. Mr. Im was born in Okchon, Korea the oldest of seven brothers and instrumental serving as a translator as a young man for the US Army during the Korean War. Upon graduation from Chung-ang University, he attended Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY and obtained his Masters in English. He was then in the process of obtaining his doctorate at Ohio State University until he ran out of funds. To support his family, he became the sole proprietor of Annandale Hardware from 1979 until 2009. All the while, Mr. Im was an English instructor for thousands of Korean immigrants in the DC area. In addition to hosting a radio show, he wrote and published three successful books explaining American English idioms to Korean Americans and was also heavily involved in a number of Korean American civic associations as well as the Annandale Chamber of Commerce. A church service will be held at Seoul Presbyterian Church, 6428 Ox Rd, Fairfax Station, VA 22039 on Tuesday, February 15 at 7 p.m. and graveside service at Fairfax Memorial, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax VA 22031 on Wednesday, February 16 at 10:45 am with lunch to follow. Family will be receiving friends at either event. www.fmfh.com
