Robert M. Chanock

CHANOCK Dr. ROBERT M. CHANOCK (Age 86) On July 30, 2010 of Bethesda, MD. He was a resident in the Washington area for over 50 years, a distinguished scientist at the National Institute of Health. He received many awards and was a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He received his undergrad and medical degrees at the University of Chicago where he also received an honorary doctorate degree. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Elizabeth Chanock and son, Foster Osgood Chanock. He is survived by son, Stephen Chanock (Lizette) of Potomac, MD and four grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Alexander and Sabrina. A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2010, 11 a.m. at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church, Bethesda, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Special Love (for children with cancer), 117 Youth Development Ct., Winchester, VA 22602.
