Of Mooresville, NC, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 11, 2013.
One of six children born to the late Harold and Gladys Williams, he was reared in Newport News, VA, where he developed a lifelong love of the water, seafood, and the game of golf. After a career in the civil service in Washington, DC, Ron retired in 2004 with his family to Mooresville, NC, drawn by Carolina relatives and temperate weather. An excellent golfer, Ron loved nothing more than a day on the links with old or new friends.
Ron leaves his wife, Kate, his children, Julie, Max, Christina and Earl, and two grandchildren. A man with a huge heart and a large family, Ron will also be missed by his siblings, Andy, Janet, Martin, Donna and Larry, and his beloved aunt Hazel Hopkins. He is lovingly remembered by his many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends, to whom he freely dispensed country wisdom and good humor, and with whom he enjoyed many summers at Sunset Beach, NC.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 301 Caldwell Lane, in Davidson, NC 28036. Condolences can be sent to Kate Boykin Williams, 145 Lockerbie Lane, Mooresville, NC, 28115. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Williams' family. Condolences may be made to the family
