RONALD PETER DIEHL  

Of Alexandria, VA died June 12, 2012. Born June 11, 1942, son of Edward and Ethel Diehl of Staten Island, NY, he graduated from Williston Academy in Easthampton, MA. He received his Civil Engineering degree from Michigan State University. He had a 36-year career with the DOD, lastly developing Army alternative energy projects.
Ron spent 19 years in Germany where he earned recognition completing non-stop, overnight 120-km walks. His passions were music, humor, Germany, the NY Times, and trains. He was a volunteer usher at Library of Congress Chamber Concerts for 10 years and in his church.
His is survived by his wife Sandra Blake; brother Ed Diehl; stepmother Bunny Diehl; stepson Steven Neal; three nieces and nephews; four grand nieces and nephews; close friends, and three former wives. He was predeceased by his parents and an infant brother.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., July 1, 2012 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, VA.
