ROSE MARIE KLING (nee Rigney)

On Thursday, December 6, 2012. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church. Oldest daughter of John Rigney Sr. (a banker) and Marie Rigney (nee Covvey) Of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Beloved sister of John (Marie) Rigney Jr., William (Karen) Rigney, Anne Marie Rigney, Richard (Kathleen) Rigney, Robert (Barbara) Rigney. Wife (for 62 years) of the late Dr. Robert P. Kling of Falls Church, Virginia. Although Dr. and Mrs. Kling bore no children of their own, they were godparents as well as aunt and uncle to many nieces and many nephews throughout the East Coast and Midwest. Rose Marie, always the gracious hostess, welcomed anyone to her home on Hillwood Avenue regardless their length of stay. Blessed with a brilliant mind (equal to if not exceeding that of husband's) Rose Marie had a talent for learning foreign languages. She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Romance Languages in 1948 at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. In addition to Romance Languages, she taught herself Braille and typed chemistry textbooks for the blind. Most of her 43 years in Falls Church, Virginia were spent managing her husband's three office ophthalmology practice. Rose Marie also gave her time to the Paul Hill Chorale, HOPE In Northern Virginia, St. James Catholic Church, and many candidates of the Republican Party. In March of 2012, Mrs. Kling moved to St. Louis, Missouri, and shortly thereafter began treatment for multiple myeloma.
Services will be held on December 15, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 125 West 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois 62863.
