Ruth Silverman Obituary

RUTH SILVERMAN (Age 74)
On April 25, 2011, RUTH SILVERMAN of Bethesda Maryland died peacefully after a cancer operation. May her Soul Rest in Peace. Ruth came to Washington DC in the 1970s as a teacher of Computer Science at the University of DC. She also worked on Computational Geometry at the Center for Automation Research at the University of Maryland. She enjoyed her water walking classes at White Oak Pool, many social gatherings with MENSA friends, and her book clubs. She loved musical events, theater, and was an avid reader of books. She is survived by her beloved relatives including sister, Leanne Weissler of Coconut Creek FL; nephews Josh Bloom of New York, NY and Ben Bloom of Peekskill NY; her Aunt Anita Segalman of Los Angles; and her devoted friend and companion, John Schneider of Bethesda Maryland. She will be greatly missed. Friends are invited to celebrate Ruth's life at a Silverman Remembrance Gathering in the Cascade Room in Club House 1 at Leisure World at 3700 Rossmoor Blvd off Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring just south of Norbeck Road on Sunday, May 1 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. (Tell guard at gate the you are attending the Silverman event). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WETA radio in appreciation of the classical music and public TV that gave her so much enjoyment.

John, I am sorry that I learned of this too late to attend the service. Ruth is remembered by many of us at UDC. May she rest in peace.
