SALLY HANGER WILLCOX
On February 13, 2013, died of a heart attack in her home in Silver Spring, at the age of 76. She is survived by her three daughters, Sally Willcox of Los Angeles (Dan Ross), Susan Dykeman of Bethesda (Ray Dykeman), and Carolyn Willcox of Los Angeles, her grandchildren Isaac Dykeman, Jackson Ross, Amelia Ross, and William Mendez, her brother Clay Hanger of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and three nieces and a nephew and their children. Her sister Martha Isard predeceased her.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 14, 1936, the daughter of Dr. Irwin Clay Hanger and Sarah Baldwin Hanger. She graduated from the Laurel School in Cleveland and Smith College in Northampton, MA. She did graduate work at the Johns Hopkins School of International Studies in Washington, with a specialty in African studies. She married William Willcox in 1960. The marriage ended in divorce in 1992. In the 1960"s she was active in Montgomery County civic and political affairs. She was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother all her life.
A memorial service will be held in Cleveland at a later date.
