SHIRLEY JEAN HARTING APPERSON of Fredericksburg died Monday, July 16, 2007 at Mary Washington Hospital.
She had retired from Lee Volkswagon after 20 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 290, and the Enon Senior Citizens. She was also active in the Stafford, Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg Senior Citizen groups.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight Apperson; her children, David Harting of Brandy Station, Richard Harting of Triangle, VA, Eric Brian Harting of Stafford County, Dean Harting of Quantico, and Peggy Sue Mason of Front Royal; her mother, Pansy Davis of Front Royal; a brother, Michael Foley of Charleston, SC.; seven stepchildren, Dwight Apperson, Jr., Richard Apperson, Theresa Gill, Paul Apperson, Brenda Nichols, Larry Apperson, and Margo Deans; seven grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20 at COVENANT FUNERAL SERVICE, Fredericksburg, VA. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19 and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
