Stafford Kay, born in Fall River, Massachusetts, on April 26, 1942, died October 4, 2012 at the age of 70. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Parsons Kay and the proud father of Peter E. Kay of Tacoma WA, and Laura Bennett (Greg) of Vienna, Virginia. He is also survived by his sister Cynthia King (William) and his niece and nephews. He and Patricia were Peace Corps Volunteers together in Kenya from 1965 to 1968. He earned his PhD from Wisconsin in 1973. He taught at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya from 1973 to 1975. He was a Senior Lecturer at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia from 1975 to 1981. Stafford worked for the Phelps Stokes Fund in Washington DC from 1981 to 2002. He joined the staff of the National Council for International Visitors in 2002 where he worked until his death. He worked in international education and with international visitors, enjoying other lands and cultures. However, he retained his love for his native New England, especially the rocky shores of Maine. Memorial Services will be held at River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Saturday, October 13 at 4 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the National Council for International Visitors or to River Road U.U. Congregation.
