LESSIN STEVEN ALAN LESSIN Of Arlington, VA died on Thursday, July 9, 2009. He worked for the Naval Research Laboratory in the Radar Division. Husband of Elizabeth A. Bostick of Alexandria, VA; step-father of David Graham Rankin of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; son of Irving and Phyllis Lessin of Potomac, MD; brother of Robert H. Lessin of Englewood, NJ and Lawrence M. Lessin and his wife, Deborah, of Urbana, MD. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Thursday, July 16, 12 Noon at the DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 520 S. Washington St, Alexandria, VA 22314. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Capital Hospice, 6565 Arlington Boulevard, Suite #501, Falls Church, VA 22042.

Steve (aka Mountain Man because of his technical rock climbing skills) was my best friend since high school. His company and conversation will remain with me always. When something good happens, I wish that I could share it with him. When something bad happens, I wonder what he would say it about it. When something miraculous happens to me, I wonder if his spirit is instructing me.

When I think of Steve I smile. He was a good soul with a great sense of humor. I am so sorry to hear about the struggles he had with his health these past years. God bless the man that donated his kidney, Larry Stein.What a remarkable gift!

I hung out with Steve senior year of HS and we went camping and climbing together a number of times. Steve had a great wry sense of humor and taught me in a small way how important it is to not worry so much about what others think of you as long as you were at peace with yourself...which he certainly was.

I remember Steve from high school, primarily through his brother Bob. He was the adventurer, the rock climber. He seemed like a really great guy. My condolences to his family

Steve wanted to be remembered as a compassionate person and that he was...up and until his death, he was involved in an educational documentary concerning organ donations. Steve and Larry Stein, who contributed a kidney to Steve a number of years ago were interviewed on camera for segments of the documentary. Steven was an amazing man, with a fantastic sense of humor, brilliance of mind and deep caring attitude. I was proud to be married to Steve for a few years when we were both quite young. Differences in future arose, but I was so happy to help him with his illness and his wonderful choice to go back to college for his BSEE. Although I have not been in contact with his family in many years, Steve and I spoke on the phone monthly if not weekly. He has been a dear friend to me for about 26 years. He will be so incredibly missed by his close friends, his second wife Liz and myself. And I appreciate beyond words that Liz was able to find my number and call me about his passing only yesterday, hence my inability for my family and me to be at his memorial service. My parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pinto share their deep condolences with Steven's family and friends, and have fond memories of Steven's visits to their home over all these years, when we could get together and visit.
